SEPTEMBER MEETING...
The
next meeting of the M&M ARC will be held on Thursday the 12th of September
at 7pm in the cafeteria of BAMC in Menominee. This is the annual
elections meeting. A slate of officers will be presented.
Additional names, of course, can be nominated from the floor. All
current officers have agreed to run again for the 2002-2003 year. Some
tentative items on the agenda include: 147 repeater wind noise update,
picnic review, discussion of a possible corn roast, Christmas party,
and by-laws committee report. Hope to see you there.
MEMBERSHIP DUES...
Remember,
your club dues for the year are now payable. They are still $15 per
member, and $22.50 for a family membership. We would like to have
all membership dues in by December 1st. Any dues unpaid by December
31st, will be cause for that member to be dropped from membership.
Please also bear in mind that we need to annually update our member
information, so if there is a change in your marital status, address, new call
sign, or any other change since your last form was written, please fill out a
new form. They can be gotten from N8OSK or KG8CX.
FISH FRY SCHEDULED...
Our
next club social event is scheduled for Friday, Sept. 20 at Little River CC on
Shore Drive just south of Marinette. Bob, AA9IB, is in charge of
arrangements. Please contact him or KG8CX, and let us know if you plan
on participating. You can also do so at the September meeting, as Bob
plans to attend. Social hour at 6pm with food served by 7pm.
AUGUST PICNIC...

Our
annual picnic was held on Sunday the 25th at Henes Park in Menominee with
about 40 person in attendance. We all had a great time.

The
hamburgers and grilled chicken were delicious, as were the numerous hot/cold
dishes, snacks and desserts. Special mention is made of the great Cherry
pie baked and brought over by Rita, KB9MZC, of Egg Harbor. She and her
husband Joe, KE9AS represented Door county.

Something
new this year was "HamBingo", organized and put on by Dave, W8DXX,
and XYL Jean (above). Several games were played and prizes given out.
Thanks to Dave and Jean for the "new twist" to our summer picnic,
and for the PA system amp and wireless mike. Jim, K8IR supplied the
speakers. We are also grateful to Lynne, N8OSK, and Joan Callow
for organizing the picnic, to Tom, N8LHB, for tending to the mouth-watering
chicken, and to Jim, K8IR for the hamburgers. The weatherman also
contributed to the success of the picnic by providing great weather. All in
all, a most enjoyable Sunday afternoon in the park. Check the
"KG8CX/M&M ARC" webpage www.w8pif.com
for more pictures of the event.
FROM: The Wisconsin EMERGENCY COORDINATOR September 2002…

to bring Oconto County under his wing. He is its EC effective 9 August.
Thanks, Jeff, for taking on the additional task.
FROM THE ARRL LETTER…
ARRL DIRECTOR, VICE
DIRECTOR RACES SET IN GREAT LAKES DIVISION
ARRL members in the Great Lakes division, which includes Michigan, will cast
ballots this fall in contests to pick a director and Vice Director. Director
Gary Johnston, KI4LA, of Edgewood, Kentucky, is in a three-way race with Paul
Daley, WT8S, of Canal Winchester, Ohio, and Jim Weaver, K8JE, of Mason, Ohio.
Johnston only recently took over the top spot from George Race, WB8BGY, who,
in a surprise move, resigned during the July Board of Directors' meeting. Vice
Director Dick Mondro, W8FQT--who was Michigan Section Manager before his
appointment in the wake of Johnston's accession--is unopposed for election.
Ballots will go out to all ARRL members on record in the division as of
September 10, 2002. Ballots will be mailed by October 1 and must be received
back at ARRL Headquarters (via the ARRL's auditor) by noon on
November 15, when they will be counted and the successful candidates
announced. Candidates running unopposed are declared elected. New terms of
office begin January 1, 2003.

minutes published in the August Groundwave for July 2002 meeting. Seconded by
Noel K8NB. All in favor. The Treasurer reported no changes this month. Savings
account $348.08 and in the checking account $208.62 for total assets of $556.70.
Motion made by N9UGG George and seconded by WC9E Paul to approve the report. All
in favor.
Ed
reported for the net report that last Sunday 16 check ins this has been the
lowest as usually over 20. Ed reported for the Skywarn checkin there were 18
check ins.
OLD
BUSINESS:
K8IR
reported that the ECHO link is now on the 444.000 repeater in Sturgeon Bay. Ed
reported he is only running one watt and only English speaking stations will be
on it.
Renelle
KB9WKD resigned from her emergency government position in Marinette County and
tonight we have Marge Bramschreiber who is Menominee County emergency person at
our meeting.
KG9GH
Eric reported for the By-Laws committee that no major changes just some minor
updating and by the next meeting they should have a report to give on the
changes.
N8LHB
Tom for the nominating committee reported that the present officers will stick
around for another year and no one else has come forth to run for any of the
offices. K8IR remarked anyone interested in an office do not be shy do come
forth and run for the office. Voting will take place in September with new
officers taking over in October.
NEW
BUSINESS:
The
summer picnic is on August 25 and the forms are in the August Groundwave
everyone received by mail.
Jim
K8IR reminded everyone that memberships dues will be coming up individual is
$15.00 and family membership is $22.50.
Jim
KC8DOA owner of the repeater attended the meeting tonight and did present some
information as to when the tower will be painted and the old cabling will be
removed off the tower. This is what is believed to be causing the noise that
occurs when it is windy out. This condition has comprimised our communications
ability, especially in skywarn and emergency situations. Jim reported crews are
available this year to do the tower work and will be scheduled to be done this
year.
Noel
K8NB reported the change for the DTMF tones has been made as requested at the
last meeting.
The
next fish fry will be on September 20 at Little River.
The
next VE testing will be decided by Jeff KE9S.
Motion
made by WC9E Paul and seconded by N9OSF Larry. All in favor.
